Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guide in the evening for a detailed briefing about the trek, equipment check, and what to expect during the climb. This is also your chance to ask any questions before your adventure begins.

After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration and permits. You’ll then drive through the forest to the Lemosho Glades to begin your trek. The hike through the dense rainforest takes you to Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp), where you may spot wildlife like buffalo or elephants.

Today, you’ll trek through the last of the rainforest and transition into the Moorland Zone, offering expansive views as you ascend. The hike takes about 5-6 hours, and you’ll camp at Shira 1 Camp on the Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus in the world.

You’ll continue your trek across the Shira Plateau, enjoying panoramic views of Kibo Peak. The day involves relatively gentle trekking, allowing you to acclimatize to the altitude before reaching Shira 2 Camp, located at 3,850m.

This is a significant day for acclimatization. You’ll ascend to Lava Tower at 4,600m, where you’ll have lunch and rest before descending to Barranco Camp at 3,950m. Although the climb to Lava Tower is challenging, descending afterward helps your body adjust to the altitude, and you’ll get amazing views of Kilimanjaro’s southern glaciers.

Start your day with a thrilling climb up the Barranco Wall, a non-technical but steep ascent. The climb is rewarded with stunning views of Heim Glacier and the valleys below. After the wall, you’ll descend into the Karanga Valley and camp at Karanga Camp. This shorter day allows for further acclimatization and some well-needed rest.

Today is a shorter but more demanding trek to Barafu Camp. The terrain becomes rockier as you near the camp, which sits at 4,640m. Once you reach Barafu, you’ll prepare for your midnight summit attempt. You’ll have an early dinner and rest before waking up later in the night to begin the final ascent.

Accommodation: Barafu Camp
At midnight, you’ll begin your final ascent to the summit. After 6-8 hours, you’ll reach Stella Point (5,739m) and then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, you’ll descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for your last night on the mountain.
